Chain Release Hooks
| Our patented release hooks
provide a safe, effective and labor-saving method of ship mooring. Vessel
tonnage's and their relative distances from shore have increased
dramatically over the years, but the design handles virtually any
situation. Whether it's a single or multiple hook model, each is designed
to swing completely free up to 180º horizontally and 45º vertically to
maintain a straight pull on the lines at all times. |
 |
| All units can release under full load, unlike
buoy hooks, which must have slack line to release. All release hooks are
hot-sprayed with zinc, then painted or galvanized. Grease fittings are
recessed for safety and ease of lubrication. |
Standard Hook
|
| All release hooks are thoroughly tested
before leaving our plant. Smaller release hooks (100 tons) are tested to
1.6 times rated capacity. Larger release hooks are tested to ABS standards
of 1.3 times their rated capacity. |
 |
| Our release hooks come in two models,
standard and rotary. The benefit of the rotary is the smoothness of the
line release. We can also supply an integral capstan, which, when used in
conjunction with our release hooks, reduce crew needs from three or four
people to one or two. |
Rotary Hook
|
| Washington Chain also offer a
"captive" style release hook for towing. The captive style is
designed to prevent the accidental release of the towline should it go
slack. |
 |
| In addition to our release hooks, we carry
buoy hooks in 300,000# -400,000# and 400,000# with an extra-wide jaw
radius to allow for larger rope or multiple mooring lines. Again, like our
release hooks, we have these hooks hot spray galvanized for durability. As
with all our products, certification is available upon request. |
